I have never had someone ask me what they can do to satisfy me. I’ve never had someone ask me what I want with the intention of listening, and potentially, providing. At least, not until I read a blog post by one of my favorite bands. I know it sounds pretty silly, but it feels good. To have someone express a desire to give you what you want, to make you happy…it’s not something you see a lot these days.
I don’t know what it is about this band, but I’ve gotten caught up in the diehard fan mentality. I’ve come to identify with them, probably because they’re doing these really big things…it’s inspiring. I mean, their music is great. I fell in love with the songs and I haven’t grown sick of them. But also, they’re living their dreams. It’s incredible that they just keep doing what they want. They are really beautiful people, and I like that. They’re genuine, and they value their fans. Now I’m not saying every artist doesn’t value their fans, but after a while in the spotlight…they lose distance with them. So far, they haven’t. Maybe it’s only a matter of time, who knows? But right now, they’re doing a pretty good job of balancing a tour with other aspects of their life…including the aforementioned blog.
I guess in today’s world, it’s more common to find the down and defeated than those who will fight to the end to pursue their dreams. These girls and their fellow band members, they’re fighting for what they want. They are dreaming big, and they aren’t going to let anyone tell them “no.”
I find something kind of magical in that. I admire that. I’d love to capture that in a mason jar and keep it around for when days get hard. It’s an inspirational kind of thing, if you know what I mean.
So, back to the main point here. What would you, my valued readers, like to see from me? More stumble-upons, more of my own thoughts, more photos? Any particular topics of discussion? I would love to hear what you have to say!
