There’s something about the thoughts of others who have lived before us….

But a quote is of no importance if you are not a name worth remembering. You must give someone reason to trust your words, your beliefs, your advice. Here are some quotes:

“We cannot change our memories, but we can change their meaning and the power they have over us.” -David Seamans

“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” -Allan K. Chalmers

“There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life — happiness, freedom, and peace of mind — are always attained by giving them to someone else.” -Peyton Conway March

“I am always doing things I can’t do. That’s how I get to do them.” -Picasso

“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” -Buddha

“When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.” -Alexander Graham Bell

“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.” -Gilda Radner

“There is no great genius without some touch of madness.” -Seneca

“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.” -Anais Nin

“We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.” -Dalai Lama

“Through pride we are ever deceiving ourselves. But deep down below the surface of the average conscience a still, small voice says to us, ‘Something is out of tune.'” -Carl Jung

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge — myth is more potent than history — dreams are more powerful than facts — hope always triumphs over experience — laughter is the cure for grief — love is stronger than death.” -Robert Fulghum
